industry, benefitting from advances in silkworm-rearing, became
the star industry of Japanese capitalism, and one which heavily
influenced the shape of modernization. Through the efforts
of Matsushiro Rokko Company, which operated mechanised spinning
machines, we can catch a glimpse of the essence of Nagano
Prefecture the kingdom of sericulture.
